From Rifugio Col Gallina, the trail climbs to the beautiful Lake Limides, surrounded by spectacular views of the Tofane and Falzarego Pass. Continue to Forcella Averau, a panoramic spot opening to incredible views over the surrounding valleys and the eastern Dolomite groups. The route continues to Rifugio Averau and then up to the famous Rifugio Nuvolau, one of the most scenic huts in the Dolomites. Descending towards Rifugio Scoiattoli, you reach the iconic Cinque Torri, where an optional short loop leads through the open-air World War I museum, with trenches and historical positions from the Great War. Optional detour to Croda Negra summit (+1 km, +150 m elevation, +1 hour). Terrain: single track trails on rocky ground with no technical difficulty, but sure footing and moderate fitness required.
